climate active carbon neutral standard.

in june 2021, bassike was formally certified under the australian government backed climate active carbon neutral standard, covering its operational emissions including: utilities for its head office and eight retail stores; global freight between customers, partners and suppliers; staff travel and commute; paper and office equipment; consumer and supplier packaging; third party services such as cleaning and printing; and waste and recycling.

following this, in 2022, bassike achieved climate active carbon neutral certification of its signature organic cotton jersey collection. this certification signifies that the greenhouse gas emissions associated with the sourcing of raw material production, garment manufacturing, distribution, and end of life of bassike organic cotton jersey garments have been measured, reduced and offset in their entirety by carbon reduction and capturing projects.

for the past 2 years we have measured, managed, and minimised our ghg emissions across our jersey supply chain. we made improvements such as sea freighting our yarn (not air freighting) and converting our knitting mill to solar energy. as we head towards our 2030 goals, we intend to prioritise lower impact materials and focus on circularity to help us drive greater impact. we have made the informed decision to withdraw from this certification for our jersey line, to allow opportunities for us to deliver greater impact and evolve our continuous improvement pathway. as an organisation, bassike will continue to be climate active carbon neutral certified.
